Overdose on fictive fructose
Getting sugar rushes from imagined orchids
Dripping sweet, sweet lies from my brain tongue
Like maple syrup made of make-believe memories
Digging the high of unreal
Saccharine thrill of what never was
Gulping away the glimmering fiction
Straight, neat from the bottle
Of "better-than-life" potion
Too much, too much that thoughts are starting to rot
Teeth of truth ache under the pressure
Of the blindening gleams of candy-coated delusion
Regret creeps out of the corner of my toes
And I drink some more sweet painkiller of
vanilla-flavored denial steeped in daydreams
How to escape?
Bittersweet nostalgia has always been my favourite flavour of illusion.
